A slow news day, but this column is worth a read: "PSC runs risk of polluting the public's best interest".

Failed The FCAT? If You've Got $70 A Private H.S. School Diploma Is Yours - "On Saturday, Attila Hajdu will return to Hungary with a Florida high-school diploma -- but not from Seminole High, where he raced cross-country and lifted weights while scoring a list of impressive A's and B's. The foreign student's diploma comes from a private school that enrolled and graduated him in a few hours, for a $70 fee. Hajdu was among the nearly 13,000 seniors who failed the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, which this year replaced a less-rigorous exam as a requirement for graduation. Hajdu discovered another option. At the Belz Academy in Fort Myers, he earned a diploma without passing the FCAT, or even attending classes there." See "Student makes end run around FCAT". So much for accountability.

Kyle Fletcher, lawyer for Emelia Belford of Altamonte Springs, asked Orange Circuit Judge Lawrence Kirkwood to appoint her guardian for the "unborn child" of J.D.S., as the retarded woman is known in court records."
