DEMS JUMPING FOR JOY AT JENNINGS PICK. Bush's selection of Toni Jennings to be Lt. Gov has Florida Democrats smiling. Jennings, the former Senate president from Orlando, is known in Orlando circles as a yet another extreme right winger, with no personality (read cold fish) to boot. Those traits certainly helped her in her conservative Orlando Senate district, but hold little promise for an eventual statewide run. The Dems who want to succeed Bush should start lining up today. 7:21 AM [Go to current Florida Politics site (no popup ads)]

IT'S THE TAX CUTS, STUPID. ""Democrats and even other Republicans in the legislature, however, question the blame Bush lays on the voter-approved initiatives of recent elections for the budget problems. But in a fit of arrogance, "Bush denies any problems with his budget proposal, and said he would welcome the legislature's passing it intact.". SOMETHING TO LIKE ABOUT JAX POLITICS. "The Republican candidates for mayor spent the week bickering about their "true conservative" bona fides, but a quick check of voter registration records shows every member of the eight-candidate field has been a registered Democrat at one time or another since former President Bill Clinton took office." Story.
