GRAHAM UPDATE. The Graham thing has been on hold of late, but in "As he heals, senator lays presidential plans", we learn that "[i]n the next two weeks, Sen. Bob Graham plans to file papers to launch his presidential campaign and begin raising money, but he will wait until mid April to make a final decision about whether to run." Here's hoping he runs. 6:46 PM [Go to current Florida Politics site (no popup ads)]

TALLAHASSE DEMOCRAT GEMS. In the "'The Johnnie Byrd Show'?", the Tallahassee Democrat editorial board lampoons Speaker Byrd's media expenditures to be "nakedly self-serving". In a second editorial, the board suggests that the "House sorely needs tough budget advice". And, Bill Cotterell details the "Juvenile justice overhaul bill" controversey. 6:41 PM [Go to current Florida Politics site (no popup ads)]

ONE FLORIDA DEBUNKED. As explained in "Study: Bush admissions plan fizzles", our Governor's bragging about his affirmative action substitute - One Florida, Talented Twenty, blah, blah, blah - is just so much hooey. "A new report from Harvard University calls Gov. Jeb Bush's One Florida plan an ineffective replacement for traditional race-based admissions, even though the governor has touted it as a national model to replace affirmative action." Not surprisingly, the "too deep" for us Governor deemed the study "flawed". Perhaps this will temper John Ellis' tendency to prance on the national stage, as he did several weeks ago in (wasting state money) filing a brief in the United States Supreme Court in support of the challenge to the University of Michigan's affirmative action policy. We doubt it. 6:36 PM [Go to current Florida Politics site (no popup ads)]

OUR GOVERNOR: "IT'S DUBYA'S FAULT". "Rising gasoline prices, a terrorist alert and the threat of war with Iraq are imperiling Florida's tourist-dependent economy, Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday." Associated Press.
